I am grossly offended by your editorial “The Comeback Kid on the ropes?” (July 30). The implication in that editorial is that we Americans are somehow too blase to understand and appreciate the importance of the Starr investigation of Bill Clinton.

Correction: I (and most Americans) understand, quite well, the importance of this “investigation”–it is an attempt, on the part of the president’s political enemies, to destroy him. Period. Ever since Clinton first ran for president, conservatives in this country have done everything to do as much damage to him as possible. Call me blase, but I have better things to do with my time than worry about whether the president may or may not have had sex with Monica Lewinsky and may or may not have tried to cover it up.
