We have seen these lists, these top 100 movies and top 100 sports movies and top 100 novels of the century. Without further adieu, (here are some of my 100 Silliest Things in Sports): Giving Earl Woods or Joon Chul Pak too much of the credit for their children’s great skills; the number of replays shown during a baseball game; the rotation of the White Sox; Jose Canseco being just off a 40-40 home run-stolen base pace and no one noticing; Astros manager Larry Dierker saying he couldn’t find an opportunity to get Craig Biggio in as a pinch-hitter last Wednesday, ending a healthy Biggio’s consecutive games streak at 494. In a 5-3 loss to the Marlins, there was no place to use his best player; not televising the front nine of the Masters on Sunday. televising the second half of NFL exhibition games; and the self-importance of the Olympic Games.
