Walter E. Sering, 84, of Elk Grove Village, formerly of Chicago, was a retired machinist with 30 years at Honeywell Inc., manufacturers of heating and cooling controls. Mr. Sering, who was born in Oak Park and served in the Army Air Corps in World War II, died Sunday in his home. Survivors include his wife, Helen; a son, Norman Taylor; a daughter, Karen Niebuhr; a brother, Otto; a sister, Mildred; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Oehler Funeral Home, 555 Lee St., Des Plaines.
