Mike Goebig, director of economic development for Tinley Park, is leaving to take a job in the private sector.
Goebig, who has been with Tinley Park for three years, is taking a job with Prentiss Properties, a north suburban company that manages and develops office and industrial space.
His resignation is effective at the end of this month.
“There’s movement in the field,” Mayor Ed Zabrocki said of Goebig’s departure. “They’re young, energetic people, and they move on. It’s a step up from a responsibility standpoint and a financial standpoint.”
The village will seek to fill the position through newspaper ads and by contacting universities and other economic development directors, he said, adding he hopes to fill the position by mid-September.
The annual salary is between $40,000 and $45,000.
