Henry Juengel, 84, of Wheeling, a longtime employee of the Village of Palatine, died Monday in his home. Born in Oppershofen, Germany, Mr. Juengel assisted in the construction of the autobahn in Frankfurt. He fought for Germany in World War II. He left Germany with his wife and three children in 1957 and moved to Chicago. He worked as a custodian for more than 30 years for the Village of Palatine. “He was a very adaptable person,” said his daughter Monica Jevtec. Other survivors include his wife, Sofie; another daughter, Doris Kling; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held from 8 a.m. Thursday until the time of prayers at 10 a.m. in Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling. A mass will follow at 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 181 W. Dundee Rd., Wheeling.
