Dog owners will have to wait until next summer before unleashing their pets at an 8-acre canine exercise area planned at the former Mayslake Estate in Oak Brook, a DuPage Forest Preserve District official said Thursday.
Robert Vick, the district’s director of planning and development, said the opening date will depend on how much turf grass restoration is required.
Vick told the Planning and Development Committee that workers will begin seeding the area in the spring. The project is estimated to cost $25,000.
“Originally, I was hoping we might be able to do something this year, but we’re swamped,” Vick said.
