But hide the sharp objects: Enthusiastic members of the McHenry County Old House Support Group have developed a list of tips for others interested in preserving vintage Illinois buildings. Among the concerned are residents of DuPage County, where teardowns have taken center stage.
In addition to suggesting surveys, press releases, fliers, open houses and meetings, there’s this on the tip list: “Encourage members to help out each other with tough (renovation) projects. Offer liquid refreshments to the helpers.”
Presumably in that order.
