James G. Badger, 78, former chairman and chief executive officer of National Security Bank, died Aug. 16 of lung cancer in Presbyterian Home in Evanston. Mr. Waller was a meticulous businessman who rarely needed a calculator, said his son, James K. Badger. His children knew exactly what time he’d leave the house and exactly what time he’d be home. Mr. Badger, a longtime Wilmette resident, joined the First National Bank of Chicago when he returned from duty on a Navy cargo ship during World War II. He worked there until he and a group of investors acquired National Security Bank of Chicago in 1971. Mr. Badger retired in 1983. An avid golfer, one of his happiest moments was a hole. In addition to his son, Mr. Badger is survived by a daughter, Mary Ellen; a brother, Frank; and five grandchildren. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in Kenilworth Union Church, 211 Kenilworth Ave., in Kenilworth.
