Steve M. Chaney, 41, of St. Petersburg Beach, Fla., formerly of Arlington Heights, was a television show host with Home Shopping Newwork for the past 12 years. Mr. Chaney died Aug. 15 in Florida of complications from a brain tumor after a two-year battle with cancer. Mr. Chaney graduated from Arlington High School in 1975 and attended Flagler College in Florida. “Steve was a very accepting guy,” said Rev. Rupert Lovely, senior minister at Countryside Unitarian Universalist Church, Palatine. “He never put on pretensions or airs. He was as comfortable at a lunch counter as he was in the drawing room of the secretary of state,” Lovely said. “He was at ease with people. He took them for what they were.” Survivors include his wife, Linda; three sons, Robert, Ryan and Taylor; his parents, Robert and Carol; two brothers, Geoffrey and Matt; and a sister, Christa. Memorial services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Countryside Unitarian Universalist Church, 1025 N. Smith St., Palatine.
