“The scarlet presidency” (Editorial, Aug. 19) is self-righteous fantasy. When it comes to sex there is only one aspect that concerns the public–consent. As long as the sexual acts committed by Ms. Lewinsky and Mr. Clinton were consensual, they are none of the public’s business.

There is a tragedy in the affair–that too many have come to believe a person’s private sexual life is appropriately discussed in a court of law, and that the news media has the right to publish the details of a sexual encounter between consenting adults.
