Michael T. DeFazio, 67, a 38-year employee of State Farm Insurance, died Saturday in his Arlington Heights home. Mr. DeFazio spent 30 years as a manager at State Farm, but after retiring from management five years ago, he returned to work as an agent just two weeks later, said his wife, Dolores. Mr. DeFazio was born in Duluth, Minn., and joined the U.S. Navy at age 17. After a stint in Greenland in the 1950s, Mr. DeFazio attended the Illinois Institute of Technology, majoring in electrical engineering and minoring in business administration. Mr. DeFazio, who enjoyed fishing and tennis, began working at State Farm in 1960 and oversaw the operations of 17 independent agents out of his Arlington Heights office, his wife said. Other survivors include a son, Michael Jr.; two daughters, Debra Vojtsek and Christine Bowden; a sister, Sophie Olson; and six grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Monday at Glueckert Funeral Home Ltd., 1520 N. Arlington Heights Rd., Arlington Heights, where funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday.
