Because the military strike on the terrorists’ camps was planned before the president’s vacation at Martha’s Vineyard, why didn’t the president stay in Washington for another day, so he could address the nation from the Oval Office? Was it because he wanted to make an impressive return to Washington on Air Force One, and look very serious and presidential going about the business of explaining the reasons for the attack? Could he not have made the speech from his vacation retreat?
Although I believe the attack was necessary and well-justified, I also believe that some political spinning went into the explanation.
