Community Unit School District 300 has been awarded a $225,000 competitive technology grant from the State Board of Education to buy computer equipment and establish a wireless-technology laboratory.
Assistant Supt. Fred Fox on Monday night told the school board that the grant, from the State Technology Literacy Challenge Fund, also will allow teachers to integrate use of the Internet.
“We are planning to purchase 26 laptop computers for students to be able to share information with other students on-line,” Fox said.
After the year-long grant expires, the district will be able to keep the computers.
