It is clear to me that the Chicago Tribune’s coverage of issues affecting working men and women is biased.

The most recent example was an Aug. 16 article about the International Brotherhood of the Electrical Workers Local 134’s “Ten for Glenn” campaign. Our members were requested to voluntarily contribute $10 directly to the Glenn Poshard for governor campaign. The reporter attempted to paint this as some type of illegal act or at least a major violation of Rep. Poshard’s self-imposed fundraising restrictions. This campaign is neither.

It appears that because Glenn Poshard is labor’s candidate, he must be attacked at every turn, but because George Ryan is the Tribune’s candidate, he should be treated with kid gloves.

The Tribune is a great newspaper and its readers deserve fair coverage of this campaign.
