President Clinton’s decision to order the bombing of installations in Afghanistan and Sudan is most unfortunate in that it tends to promulgate the concept that senseless violence should be answered by more senseless violence.
Is this really the best that we have to offer the peoples of the world? Do we really want to see our world deteriorate to the point where tit for tat becomes the norm?
I think not.
I’d hope the United States would opt for such an approach as “the best way to get rid of an enemy is to make him your friend,” rather than so often depending upon the threat and use of military might.
