The Sept. 8 editorial “Moving Realtors toward diversity” says real estate agents have wielded tremendous influence in shaping the racial composition of the region.
Realtors showed houses to blacks in a predominately white neighborhood, the blacks bought and some whites fled. Am I to believe that the Realtor caused the whites to flee? Sounds like integration to me.
Now the Realtor is being admonished to seek out potential home buyers from a “broad range” of racial and cultural backgrounds. For what purpose? To accomplish what?
I think it’s time to wake up to the fact that a Realtor can’t force anyone to buy anything no matter where it’s located.
