Robert Griffith Smead, 73, a World War II veteran, died Thursday at his Geneva home. Mr. Smead, a member of St. Charles American Legion Post 342 and VFW Post 5036, was a designer and inventor of industrial electrostatic coating equipment. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Judith Anne; a daughter, Elizabeth Smead Wycislak; a son, James; and four grandchildren. Services were held Saturday.
