Amid a proliferation of new courtroom TV shows, Judith Sheindlin’s “Judge Judy” (6:30 p.m., WPWR-Ch. 50) still stands out for its blunt treatment of the litigants who submit themselves to Sheindlin’s no-nonsense brand of justice. Here are some of her more entertaining remarks:

“Look at me, sir! (pointing to her forehead) Does it say `stupid’ here?”

“This is my shop. Don’t repeat yourself. Don’t speak out of turn. If I tell you to sit down – you’ve made your argument before – you sit down. I run this shop.”

“A child is not a piece of meat.”

“You are one lying sucker.”

“Baloney, baloney, baloney!”

“You want to throw the bull, go someplace else.”

“You both acted like idiots.”

“If you’re acting like an idiot, if you’re acting like a schlemiel, I’m gonna tell you. If you’re lying to me, I’m gonna call you on it.”

“You say no, I say yes, I win, because I’m the judge.”

“I’m the boss, applesauce.”

“When it looks as if you’re going to win, you’re supposed to keep your mouth shut.”

“You told me already three lies and we’ve only been together for 15 minutes.”

“You, sir, do not have character, you are a character.”

“Beauty fades, dumb is forever.”

“Some people are givers and some people are takers. You, sir, are a taker. Now you are going to be a giver.”

“I have a feeling you two people deserve each other because both of you are irritating me.”

“Do you know when a gift becomes a loan? When the relationship is over. Did you ever hear that? . . . Good, because I just made it up.”

“I’m not your mother, I’m not gonna fix all your problems – and stop chewing gum in my courtroom!”
