The Joliet City Council will take comments about proposed salary increases at a work session on Monday.

In advance of the muncipal election in April, the City Council will consider raising salaries for the mayor and the eight council members.

Council members are paid $10,000 a year, and the mayor is paid $19,500. Under the proposal, council members would be paid $15,000 a year and the mayor would be paid $27,000.
