I’m sure we’re aware of the success of the wild card now in use by the lords of baseball. I’m afraid there will be more. The next move will be 16 teams in the playoffs–after all, if eight is a success, why not double it?
Next will be two more expansion teams, so we would then have 32 teams, all of which would be in the playoffs. The World Series could be played between Christmas and New Year’s.
With the TV networks calling the shots, who knows? If there aren’t enough pitchers for 32 teams, who cares? Fans want home runs, right?
