In response to the panic of 11-digit dialing, I timed how long it takes to dial 11 digits versus seven digits, and it only took three-tenths of a second longer.
With telephone features such as automatic redial, speed dialing, automatic call-back, caller ID redial, etc., most of the time a person only needs to push one button to place a call.
Instead of complaining, we should be grateful we live in a country where telephone service, cellular phones, fax machines and pagers are so inexpensive.
There are a lot more important quality-of-life issues to worry about than how many digits there are in a phone number.
