It would be appreciated if the news writers and broadcast commentators would differentiate the terms used in the current point-shaving case of some Northwestern University athletes.

Gambling is gambling, not cheating.

Cheating is cheating, not gambling.

The players in trouble were “cheats,” not “gamblers.” Gamblers, the professionals, are, for the most part, the most honest businessmen one could ever meet. They would be out of business almost instantly if word got around that they were cheating.
