Mortgage rates ease: Average commitment rates on U.S. 30-year fixed rate mortgages fell to their lowest level in two months during the week ending Dec. 11, Freddie Mac said. Thirty-year fixed rate mortgages fell two basis points to an average 6.69 percent in the latest week from 6.71 percent the prior week. The 30-year rate has not been lower since it stood at 6.49 percent in the week ended Oct. 9. Fifteen-year mortgages fell three basis points to an average 6.34 percent from 6.37 percent in the week.
