Los Angeles Kings all-star defenseman and captain Rob Blake was suspended for at least one game Sunday by the NHL for a slashing incident against Harry York of the Vancouver Canucks.

Last season’s Norris Trophy-winning defenseman sat out the game against the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and will have a hearing by telephone Monday with league disciplinarian Colin Campbell to determine the extent of the suspension.

Blake, who missed 15 consecutive games because of a broken right foot, returned from the injury Saturday night and was banished by referee Don Koharski with 15:45 left in the third period after receiving a 5-minute major for slashing York across the right arm.

Blake also was penalized in the second period of that game for high-sticking York.
