I read with much dismay Dr. David A. Rivera’s letter, “Quit misusing reproductive advances” (Voice, Jan. 3).
Claiming that infertility is not a disease or disability, Dr. Rivera righteously calls treating it a selfish desire. Tell that to the women born without ovaries, the women who experience menopause in their 20s, the thousands of men whose sperm malfunction or are attacked by their partners’ antibodies. Procreation is a normal human life function; being unable to reproduce normally is a disability.
