In his Jan. 2 letter to the Tribune, reader Drew Geisler asks whether the same House Republicans espousing the rule of law would argue so passionately and eloquently for impeachment if President Clinton were a Republican.

To be fair, I believe we need to ask the flip side of that question. Would those many Democrats who claim that the president’s troubles are merely personal matters take such a view if President Clinton were a Republican?

I think not either.
