Anfernee Hardaway and Nick Anderson each scored 21 points as Orlando beat New Jersey.
Hardaway also had eight rebounds and six assists as the Magic improved to 3-1.
“We decided to put pressure on their starters and keep wearing them down,” said Hardaway, injured for most of last season. “They’re going through the same thing we did last year.”
The Nets, playing without injured guards Sam Cassell, Kerry Kittles and Eric Murdock, fell to 1-2.
“They were kind of thin,” Orlando coach Chuck Daly said. “Obviously anytime you lose key personnel you aren’t going to be the same team. But in this league, the way we’ve been operating, we’ll take a win and run and hide.”
After falling behind 71-51 at the start of the fourth quarter, the Nets staged a late rally but were never able to get the deficit under eight.
Horace Grant added 15 points for the Magic.
