Upon landing at the Las Vegas airport on New Years Eve 1993 on my way to see superstar Barbra Streisand at the MGM Grand, I spotted Gene Siskel. I walked up to him and said, “Be kind to her. She is going to be nervous not having sung in concert for 27 years!”
Later that week he gave a glowing review on TV and he wrote a wonderful piece for one of the entertainment magazines.
As a fan of Mr. Siskel, what I truly admired was his ability to be painfully honest about the movies and actors he reviewed. Yet he was never mean-spirited or caustic.
