After missing buzzer-beaters that would have won the previous two games, Patrick Ewing made sure there would be no need for any late-game heroics Sunday.
Ewing scored 18 of his 30 points in a third-quarter outburst and New York won its eighth straight home game.
Ewing shot 14 for 21 with nine rebounds and four blocks.
“I don’t care what people think. If I have the shots again, I’m going to take them,” Ewing said.
Keith Van Horn had 22 points and 16 rebounds for the Nets, who lost their third straight, their ninth in the last 10.
