Your March 7 editorial opposing any kind of campaign finance reform is very troubling. The limits on campaign contributions to Illinois legislators are so loose that they invite misdeeds, if not corruption.

Businesses that do business with the state are not limited in the size of their contributions to any state officials. Utilities that the state regulates in the interest of the citizens are not limited in the amount they can contribute to the regulators.

Legislators with large war chests have overwhelming influence on legislation. This means large segments of the state have only minimal representation.

I am sure that any fair study and evaluation of the current system would make it clear to you that the system screams out for limits and intelligent reforms.
