Time after time I read about solutions to campaign reforms. Let me share with you something that has been on my mind. Any local, state or federal elected person who seeks an office other than the one now held cannot seek another office, such as Bobby Rush did when campaigning for mayor of Chicago, unless he or she resigns the currently held office.

This public life is way out of rationality compared to the private sector. Just ask yourself and other colleagues if anyone employed in the private sector could go to their employer and say, “I like working for you, boss, but I want to seek out other employment opportunities. Now you wouldn’t mind continuing to pay me while I do that, would you?”

I feel everyone should follow the lead of Bob Dole, who resigned his seat in the Senate before pursuing the office of president of the United States.
