Chicago Tribune

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

I moved to Champaign about a year before Mike Royko died. The Tribune was new to me, but I read his column enough times to feel a sense of loss after his passing. I’ve since moved to Chicago and become a loyal reader of John Kass, who has huge shoes to fill. Mr. Kass has filled them well. His column makes me laugh out loud or curse to myself in dismay. They’ve helped a newcomer to the city understand its politics and power balance. Sometimes I read his column before I read the front page; I can get the latter news almost anywhere. Thanks for the daily insights. They make this mega-city feel a little more like a neighborhood.
