Stanley A. Chriske, 89, of Warrenville, a former custodian for Wheaton-Warrenville Unit District 200 and Kraft Food Co., died Thursday in DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton. As a pitcher during the 1940s for a semipro baseball team in Green Bay, Mr. Chriske set a record with 21 strikeouts in one game, a record that still stands. While living in Wheaton from 1950 to 1972, Mr. Chriske began the football team at St. Michael’s School and coached Little League and Pony League. He lived in West Chicago from 1973 to 1994. Mr. Chriske and his wife, Mary Elizabeth, would have celebrated 60 years of marriage April 15. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and had belonged to DuPage Memorial VFW Post 2164 and American Legion Post 76 of Wheaton. Other survivors include two daughters, Brenda Schweigert and Gloria Ketterlinus; two sons, Thomas and Michael; two brothers; one sister; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Sunday in Norris-Walen Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Church, 140 N. Oakwood Ave., West Chicago.
