Welcome to part two of our annual brunch roundup. Last week we presented a guide to city brunches. (To peruse it, visit metromix.com/dining.) This week we focus on the suburbs, handily grouping restaurants by region.
The image of suburban brunch is that of large-scale buffets, and indeed, that is by far the most typical brunch style listed here. But we’ve included a good selection of smaller-scale spots and a la carte menus — enough to give you plenty of options.
Note that prices typically increase for big-ticket brunch days, such as Easter and Mother’s Day. When available, we’ve included that information as well. Reservations are strongly recommended for all brunches, and are virtually a requirement on holidays.
North
Allgauer’s on the Riverfront, Northbrook Hilton Hotel, 2855 N. Milwaukee Ave., Northbrook, 847-480-7500. Unusual selections include raspberry-stuffed French toast, spicy chicken hash, poached eggs. Traditional items include steak and eggs, hamburger Betise, loin of lamb and pork chops.
