Give your Easter eggs a ’60s spin with that tie-dyed look. (McCormick, which provided this formula, calls them “Pastel Marbleized” eggs, so if that sounds better to you, go for it.)
Here’s how to get that mod and/or marbleized look: Combine 1/4 cup boiling water, 1 teaspoon vinegar, 1/8 teaspoon oil and 4 to 8 drops desired food color in a shallow bowl. Repeat this with a second color in another bowl.
Gently roll egg in the first mixture for 30 seconds or until it is the desired shade. Transfer egg to second color mixture and repeat the process. Allow the egg to dry completely; wipe away excess oil with a paper towel.
We had the best luck using yellow, green and blue.
For purists who like solid colors, here are some new hues for Easter, also from McCormick:
Orange sunset, 17 drops yellow, 3 red
Raspberry, 14 red, 6 blue
Teal, 15 green, 5 blue
Watermelon, 25 red, 2 blue
