A young, beautiful life has been taken away. Chicago Fire paramedic Denise Guzelis was killed on June 19, victim of a senseless act of brutality. To the newspapers and news media, she was just another victim of our continuing national nightmare of violence. To those who knew Denise and worked with her, she was a friend, co-worker and a great human being. Her delightful smile and congenial personality were infectious. Her good nature and humor made our firehouse a nice place to come to.
