I am a 19-year-old juvenile diabetic. I am an example of why the recent exclusion of diabetics by the Supreme Court from the Americans with Disabilities Act is a mistake. Recently, as I was performing my job functions as a customer service representative for a large company, I suddenly saw my fingers trembling as I typed information. I was having a mild, yet scary, hypoglycemic attack. I needed to leave my position immediately to treat this condition. Thankfully I have an understanding employer. But without the protection of the ADA, it is conceivable that I could have been asked to continue with my work until the call was complete.
