I would like to thank the Chicago Tribune for giving the World Church of the Creator the best free publicity that a small organization could ever hope for (“A gospel of hatred,” Page 1, July 11). Honestly, how many anti-racist groups (militant or otherwise) have graced the front page of the Sunday Chicago Tribune complete with color photographs and a full discussion of the group’s tenets and procedures?
By running this article so prominently, your publication has well informed every Midwestern white supremacist about the World Church of the Creator. Thus every Midwestern Jewish-American, African-American and Asian-American (like myself) can live in greater fear of the church’s growing brethren.
Despite the need to investigate the roots of racism, increases in the hate group’s membership or violence toward minorities should be on the conscience of the Tribune for donating such ample publicity to the efforts of these white supremacists.
