A time frame for issuing the certificate of occupancy that allows homeowners to move into a new house is under consideration, New Lenox officials said.
Trustee Gary Mueller said last-minute problems can be avoided if developers are required to submit evidence that all construction and landscape requirements have been satisfied at least 48 hours in advance, to receive the certificate of occupancy they need to close the sale.
Trustee Annette Bowden said having a time line “fine-tunes the process” and allows developers time to correct any deficiencies before a scheduled closing.
