Village trustees have approved a zoning amendment regulating the direction homes on through lots can face.
Village Engineer Dan Schoenberg said there are 80 to 90 through lots–those that have frontage on two non-intersecting streets–in Hinsdale.
According to the amendment, when at least 50 percent of the lots on one block are through lots and when at least 50 percent of the homes on those lots are facing the same frontage, new homes built on through lots on the block will be required to face the same direction.
The issue arose when a resident at Ogden and Bruner Streets chose to build his house facing Bruner, though the rest of the homes on the block faced Quincy Street, Schoenberg said.
