David Madden, 79, of Wheeling, died Wednesday in Highland Park Hospital. Mr. Madden was the owner, since the 1940s, of Madden Ventures, Lincolnshire, formerly Madden Machine, Chicago, a machine shop. Mr. Madden served in the Army during World War II. “He was a terrific guy,” said his wife, Carol. “He was a tremendously generous person. He was willing to help anyone.” Other survivors include two sons, Joseph and Thomas; a sister, LaVerne Etter; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Kolssak Funeral Home, 189 S. Milwaukee Ave., Wheeling, followed by a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Ligouri Catholic Church, 411 N. Wheeling Rd., Prospect Heights.
