An artist’s vision is usually something spoken of metaphorically, but for some, that idea is a bit more literal. “Art of the Eye” is an exhibit of 52 pieces created by artists who are legally blind; historians speculate that some of the great impressionists were visually impaired. Come to the Illinois College of Optometry at 4 p.m. Friday for the show’s free opening reception, and perhaps you’ll discover the next Monet. 3240 S. Indiana Ave.; for reservations, call 312-949-7701.

And speaking of eyes beholding beauty, how many of you would’ve walked on hot coals for a chance to kiss the ground Marilyn Monroe trod upon? You needn’t go that far; from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, stop by Christie’s Chicago, 875 N. Michigan Ave., to see “The Personal Property of Marilyn Monroe,” a collection of Norma Jean’s belongings, including hand-annotated scripts, clothing and lingerie, to be auctioned off in New York later this month. Free. 312-787-2765.
