Daniel T. Delaney, 82, formerly of Lombard and Forest Park, died Tuesday in his Hillside home. Born in Detroit, Mr. Delaney retired from the Army as a lieutenant colonel. During World War II, Mr. Delaney was assigned to the Quartermaster Corps and flew the “hump,” a perilous journey over the Himalaya mountains, said his daughter, Mary Ann Mrazek. Other survivors include a son, John; five sisters, Lucille Keating, Aileen Ford, Noreen Delaney, Mary Springer and Kathryn Metzger; and two granddaughters. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday in Pedersen-Ryberg Mortuary, 435 N. York St., Elmhurst. Services will be at 9:15 a.m. Friday in the mortuary with mass at 10 a.m. in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 114 S. Elizabeth St., Lombard.
