An Oct. 23 editorial took exception to the position of ABC News in its method of uncovering abuses to the public by the Food Lion grocery store. Your editorial stated that the Tribune disavows such undercover methods.

ABC News took the only effective means of documenting the redating of old meat and the selling of rat-nibbled cheese–they secretly taped these unsavory events.

As a member of the consuming public, I not only approve the efforts of ABC News, I expect news-gathering sources to use similar investigative reporting techniques to protect the public interest.
