Mitchell P. Faczek, 68, a 38-year resident of Buffalo Grove, died Sunday in his home. Mr. Faczek, a Chicago native, retired in 1985 as a foreman at the Chicago Transit Authority garage in Skokie, where he began as a painter, after 35 years of service. “He was a great father, and he loved his grandkids,” said his wife of 48 years, Mary Jane. “Just to get a hug from them when they were leaving made him happy. He was the best of husbands.” Other survivors include four sons, Mitchell P. Jr., Brian, James and Joseph; a sister, Christine Caporale; five grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Prayers will be said at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in Grove Memorial Chapel, 195 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove, followed by a mass at 10 a.m. in St. Mary Catholic Church, 75 N. Buffalo Grove Rd., Buffalo Grove.
