For the past few weeks, my high school English class has been studying teen violence. In a typical American high school, many cliques exist. Although not in all cases, suspects of teen violence have often been social outcasts. There are the obvious motivations to kill: anger, stress and the need for respect. Some kids feel the need for attention or maybe even revenge.
Solving the teen violence issue can be done, but it will be extremely difficult. The thing that would make the biggest impact is increased awareness. Class discussions in school, current event assignments and discussions between parents and their children could all raise awareness of the teen violence issue in America today. Raised awareness could teach children wrong from right. If everyone is aware of the problem, then everyone will make the right decision.
