It’s scary to think that in an instant, something I might say or do could get me killed by another teenager. There are hundreds of things that can motivate a teenager to kill another person–not only race, religion, family and the media, but kids are faced with pressures every day by their peers. If they don’t dress right, talk right, look right, etc., they are sometimes known as losers. Popularity, jealousy, gender and peer pressure are all things that might motivate a killer.

I think the best way we can prevent future tragedies is to communicate more with one another. If something is on our minds, we need to go ahead and say it. We can’t let it build up inside until we’ve had too much and then go on a shooting rampage. Teenagers will feel that they really do have friends to want to help them out.
