After enduring a summer of outrageous traffic jams on most of the major expressways and tollways in the state of Illinois, I hereby suggest the Illinois Department of Transportation, IDOT, change its name to the Illinois Department In and Of Transportation Services. That way it could also be known as IDIOTS.
On Interstate Highway 55, they have demolished both north- and south-bound lanes in the central Chicago area, again in the La Grange area, again in the Joliet area and further on down the line. The resulting massive traffic jams have resulted in hours of unnecessary delays, thousands of gallons of wasted fuel and unnecessary air pollution to themax. And the government wonders where road rage begins?
To add insult to injury, IDOT has simultaneously demolished Interstate Highway 80 in both directions, once again in the Joliet area, thereby eliminating all timely access to the southern suburbs from virtually all directions.
What can we, the taxed-to-the-max motorists, do to persuade IDOT to consider repairing only one expressway or tollway at a time, leaving the nearby and parallel alternate expressway or tollway alone?
