Frank Gehry’s band shell bears quite a resemblance to “Cows on Parade” (Page 1, Nov. 4)–he is taking the same forms he has used in practically all his projects of the last 10 years, dressing them up a little differently and scattering them around the world. Although the trellis spanning the seating area shows tremendous potential, it will undoubtedly be overshadowed by Gehry’s familiar curvy, shell-like, metal-clad forms. It lacks any harmony and coherence. I can’t help but think that Chicago deserves better.
