My family and I were saddened to hear of the departure of an old friend: Rhymes With Orange. An intelligent, quirky and amusing strip is being replaced because of a poor showing in reader polls. And so it goes. Art by acclamation. Gone are the patrons who once showcased the best art for the sake of art, and in so doing, caused the receiver of the art to grow a little. Today we are becoming a bland nation created by popular opinion and catering to the lowest common element among us. And so we are all brought a little lower.

But, hey! It’s just a comic strip. That’s true, and I won’t gloom and doom about dominoes falling all around us. I will, however, take a moment to sigh, and say to my wife, “There goes another good one.”
